Under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 directives, major evaluation and syllabus changes have been introduced for the 2027 board examinations to prioritize practical application and conceptual thinking over rote memorization.
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) Updates
- Twice-a-Year Exams: Starting from the 2026-27 session, CBSE Class 10 board examinations are conducted twice a year. The first attempt in winter is mandatory, while the second attempt is optional for score improvement. The best of the two scores is retained for final grading.
- 50% Competency-Based Questions: Board exam question papers now feature 50% competency-based questions, including case studies, source-based comprehension, and assertion-reasoning questions.
